West Village Loft

Defined by its distinctive L-shaped footprint, this 3,800-square-foot loft transforms a former industrial space into a contemporary residence organized around light, volume, and structure. Rather than concealing the building’s industrial character, the renovation celebrates it by exposing the existing steel frame and integrating new structural elements that become the defining architectural language of the home.

The double-height living space forms the heart of the residence, where soaring volumes establish dramatic visual connections between the upper and lower levels. A sculptural steel bridge and open-riser staircase span the space, serving as both circulation and architectural centerpiece while reinforcing the loft’s strong vertical composition. Throughout the home, exposed columns and beams create rhythm and order, expressing the building’s structural logic with clarity and precision.

Public spaces flow seamlessly between the living room, dining area, and kitchen, while translucent sliding panels provide flexibility and privacy without sacrificing openness or natural light. Warm walnut flooring and cabinetry soften the industrial palette, balancing steel, glass, and crisp white surfaces with a sense of warmth and livability.

The result is a residence that embraces its industrial heritage while introducing a refined contemporary sensibility; an open, light-filled loft where structure, craftsmanship, and space are inseparable from the experience of daily life.
